The Company:

Shake Up is an Indianapolis based RTD (ready to drink) cocktail brand dedicated to celebrating life’s big (and not-so-big) victories. Known for their signature Lemon Shake Up canned cocktails launched in 2022, Shake Up soon became THE drink of midwest fairs and festivals as distribution expanded to 3 states and sales exceeded 18,000 cases.

Role Summary:

Shake Up is seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Sales Manager to drive the growth of the brand within the Indiana and Illinois markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all distribution channels within the assigned territory. The ideal candidate will develop and maintain strong relationships with key distribution and retail partners. The Sales Manager will achieve and exceed quarterly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including expanding points of distribution and maximizing sales velocity. The role will be accountable for ensuring consistent implementation of Shake Up sales and marketing programs across all channels. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial spirit and meticulous attention to detail.

Location: Greater Indianapolis Area OR Chicago Suburbs

Reports to: CEO

Specific Responsibilities

  • Drive Sales Growth:

    • Conduct frequent visits to both on-premise (golf courses, venues, bars, restaurants) and off-premise (liquor stores, grocery stores) accounts within the assigned territory.

    • Focus on expanding distribution and increasing sales volume of core and seasonal products.

    • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with all customers.

  • Distributor Performance Management:

    • Monitor and analyze individual distributor performance across the territory.

    • Regularly review distributor performance data with the sales leader.

    • Track and manage distributor network expenses and profit goals in collaboration with the sales leader.

    • Oversee and ensure the proper execution of all merchandising and displays in alignment with internal standards, working closely with sales leadership.

  • Inventory & Logistics:

    • Optimize distributor inventory levels to prevent out-of-stocks and ensure a smooth flow of fresh product throughout the territory.

    • Achieve Sales Metrics:

      • Sales Volume

      • New Account Acquisition

      • Product Mix

    • Consistently meet or exceed quarterly sales performance goals established by the sales leader.

    • Effectively manage the distribution and depletion of limited release seasonal offerings within the assigned region.

    • Collaborate closely with the production team by regularly providing updates on distribution and sales velocity. This information is crucial for facilitating timely adjustments to production schedules.

    • Manages distributor POS (point of sales marketing) inventory monthly to maximize use of POS at retail stores.

  • Distributor & Retailer Training & Support:

    • Provide staff training and develop strategic plans for new product releases to the relevant distributor sales reps.

    • Schedule and conduct retailer training events to build loyalty and to ensure the product is consistently represented according to Shake Up best practices.

  • Events & Brand Activations:

    • Plan, coordinate, and execute impactful events and brand activations within the assigned territory as required. Examples:

      • Liquor store tastings

      • Grocery store demos

      • Golf course key events

      • Patio parties at bars

    • Flexibility is required, including occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work hours.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • A strong passion for the adult beverage industry, particularly spirits and cocktails.

  • Data-Driven with the ability to analyze sales reports (and syndicated data would be a plus).

  • Highly motivated and results-driven with a proven ability to achieve sales targets.

  • Self-starter with a strong entrepreneurial drive and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.

  • Enthusiastic sales professional with a keen attention to detail.

Key Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older.

  • Current employee server’s permit (or willingness to apply)

  • 3 years of relevant work experience within the adult beverage industry is preferred

  • Ability to interact professionally and responsibly with customers and colleagues in environments where alcohol is served.

  • Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets (MS Excel)

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)

  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand for long periods of time

  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

  • Willingness to travel as needed, including overnight trips

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Compensation:

  • $55K-$67K per year
